Dresscode Project

HAIR HAS NO GENDER. The Hive Salon is a dedicated Dresscode Gender Affirming Salon, and a member of a global alliance of salons/shops committed to providing positive, gender-affirming services for LGBTQ2S+ clients. In our commitment to creating a safer space for LGBTQ2S+ clients, we do the following:

  • Educate our employees of this commitment

  • Share Dresscode Project training resources with all employees

  • Use a gender-neutral pricing menu

  • Track and update our clients’ pronouns in client profiles

  • Provide pronoun pins for employees

  • Provide a gender neutral washroom

Strands for Trans Safe Space

The Hive Salon is recognized as a Strands for Trans Safe Space salon in an effort to make a more welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment for our trans clients. We signed a pledge to acknowledge our responsibility to respect and protect all transgender guests to the best of our abilities as a member of the Strands for Trans Network. Our salon is listed as one of over 7,000 salons across the nation displaying the Pink, White, and Blue Barber Pole sticker.
